MW4 beta dates in 2026
- Early Access: August 21–25.
- Open Beta: August 28–September 1.
The official weekend-two guide covered access on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch 2. The free Open Beta did not require a pre-order.
Can you still play the beta?
The beta has closed. Infinity Ward confirmed its wrap-up in the September 1 patch notes. Download instructions from the beta period should not be read as a way to access it now.
When does Modern Warfare 4 release?
The announced release date is October 23, 2026. Check the official Modern Warfare 4 page and your platform's store for current release and installation information.
What to keep from your beta experience
If you played, save notes about the controller setup, weapon handling and game modes you enjoyed. Treat those notes as a starting point for launch rather than assuming every setting or weapon will behave identically.
Write down what felt difficult as well: inconsistent tracking, unfamiliar movement or a loadout that did not fit your playstyle. A short list gives you useful things to test first when the game is available.
Your launch preparation checklist
- Check the system and storage requirements for your platform before installation.
- Make sure you can access your platform and Activision accounts.
- Save your preferred input setup so you can compare it with launch defaults.
- Choose one or two progression goals instead of trying to complete everything immediately.
- Read the launch patch notes before relying on a beta-era guide.
